Comalitos

If you want an amazing breakfast burrito this is the place.  The breakfast burritos are huge.  I always have to share because there is no way I can eat a whole one on my own.  Full of eggs, ham, bacon, cheese in a delicious homemade tortilla.  You can't go wrong.  My son, being the cheese kid that he is decided to order the kids cheese qasadilla.  When it came out I looked at it and had to question if it was really a kids meal because the portion size was quite large, and it was STUFFED with cheese.  Of course that made Braydn really happy.  T ordered the rolled tacos which he thought were great.  We also ordered a soft taco which was about the size of the breakfast burrito.  I really did not care much for it because it was full of all of the stuff that I do not like.  I took it over to dad to finish and he thought it was great!  Of course my favorite is the Carne Asada taco's.  Most little taco shops like this put very little meat on top of 2 corn tortillas, a little cilantro and a little onion and that is it.  Comalitos puts a ton of meat, pico, and guacamole.  The guacamole is just the way that I like it.  (Not chunky)  All I have to say is Thank you Louis for introducing us to these awesome little taco shops!

Applebee's

I can not forget this one!  We took the kids the other night for getting such good grads last term.
There is so much delicious food here I just don't even know where to start.  I guess the appetizers would be a good place right?
We LOVE the wings and we like them hot!  I personally like to dip them in Ranch but T likes to dip them in Bleu Cheese.  Either way they are simply delicious!
The lady behind us just kept raving about the flavored lemonade.  She said that she made her hubby stop on the way home from the hospital after surgery just to get her a flavored lemonade.   She said that the manager John even brought it out to the car for her.
As for the entree's.  If you are looking for a low calorie meal they have the 550 calorie or less menu and it is amazing.  I like to get the peppercorn steak.  No matter how you like your meat cooked this is about the one and only place that can get it just right every time!  This meal comes with veggies.  I am not much of a steamed veggie eater but they are actually not to bad.
When I am not eating low calorie I LOVE the steak with Parmesan and shrimp.  It is sooooo amazing and so full of flavor you just can't go wrong with this choice.
If you want to eat off of the 2 for $20 menu I would also suggest the Oriental Chicken salad.  from what I hear it is the best in town.  My sister says it is even better if you sub the battered chicken with a grilled chicken.  She says it makes it even more moist and delicious.  The Club is amazing, Chicken Fingers are great....  I really don't think you could go wrong with anything that you order here.  They are also open on Sundays and they have many delicious mixed drinks with or with out alcohol to complete your meal.

Green Panda

The Green Panda is owned by my son's Chinese teacher.  His wife runs the place while he is at work and when he is finished at the school he heads to the restaurant.   I have not had a chance to go yet but my hubby and my son LOVE the place and it seems that they have our neighbors addicted too.   T says that they have the best Beef and Broccoli that he has ever tasted.  My son is more of a Sesame Chicken kind of kid.  When they offered to bring them out a piece of their Mango dessert they were hesitant but decided to try it and they both loved it too.  They brought home some of the pork dumplings and I have to admit they were perfect!   All of the food is made fresh and so sometimes you do have to wait but it is well worth it.   Once I have tried it I will be sure to add to this post!

Ok I finally got to try it!  It was AMAZING!  I really do not care much for Chinese food at all but this was great.  It was really hard to choose what to order.  I really wanted the Sesame Chicken but it came with rice and I was really not in the mood for rice that day.  I decided to order the Beef Noodle Bowl and it was delicious.  The beef was so tender and so full of flavor.  T also ordered the Beef and Broccoli for us and he was right.  It was sooooo good.  My daughter ordered the Orange Chicken and it was very good too.  And yes, even the Mango Moose Cake was very good.  I would highly recomend the Green Panda to everyone!

Buffalo Wild Wings

We stopped at Buffalo Wild Wings in Lehi on our way home from Salt Lake this past weekend.  The place looked pretty cool and they were open on Sunday!   It is just like any other Sports bar & grill when you walk in they have T.V's all over the place and it is very loud.  They have a few arcade games which kept the kids entertained while we waited for food.
I'm sure you all know from my previous blogs that I am a total fried pickle fan. We decided to try them here.  They were very good.  The dipping sauce that they use is very different from Ranch and so I was a little skeptical.  It was wonderful and the pickles did not seem as greasy as most of the others that I have had.
There are so many things on the menu that looked and sounded absolutely fantastic like the chicken artichoke flatbread and the buffalo wing wraps but we decided to try the slammers and some wings.  We decided to get the hamburger Slammers instead of the pulled pork which looked delicious.  The burgers were kind of plain and I don't think I would get them again.  My son thought about doing the wing challenge and asked them to bring out a little taste of the sauce.  They did and he tried it and said it wasn't that bad.  (I was not about to try it and find out for myself)  The waiter said that his brother had done it and told him that it wasn't that bad until the next day or two and then he really felt it!  He decided he wouldn't be that brave and he would just get wings with the Azian Zing sauce.  They tasted a lot like the Asian wings that Wendy's carried for a while.  He loved them.  T and I got half of ours with the Spicy Garlic sauce which was awesome!  The other half we got with the Jammin Jalapeno.  It was pretty good but I will try something else next time.  my daughter got the Teriyaki and it just tasted like very strong Teriyaki sauce.
Will we go again???  Maybe but next time I will go for something besides the wings.

Diegos

Ok my friends.  If you like the real authentic Mexican food like I do then you will love Diegos.  I am not a fan of Mexican food really but before our friend Luis passed away he would take my husband to all of the little taco shops around Provo and Orem and Diego's seemed to be the favorite.  The only thing better would be buying the prepared meat and tortillas around the corner and cooking for yourself.  Who wants to do that? It takes to long and it will probably cost you more than just eating at Diegos.  If you like real taco's the Carne Asada is wonderful and the Carnitas is my second choice. Terrance likes the Al Pastor with Pina.   They are very simple and all that comes on them is Onion and Cilantro.  They do have a few different kinds of salsa on the bar that you can add if you would like to.  The kids love their casadillas with the chicken in them as well.  We have also tried the Tortas which are great.  If you have questions about what things are just ask.  They do speak English well especially Diego.  Enjoy!

Carrabba's Italian Grill

I can not believe that people are really reading my blog!  I am so excited about that.  I guess I really need to get to it and post more often.  Believe me I have plenty of restaurants to blog about and plenty more on my list to try out so that I can add them to my blog.
One of my all time Favorites is Carrabba's.  I will be honest we tried it right after it opened and I swore that I would never go back.  A couple of years later someone invited us to go and so we decided we would give it another try and it is now my favorite restaurant ever!
The staff is all amazing.  Very friendly and attentive.  You usually have your main waiter  and then they also assign a couple of others to keep tabs on you and make sure you always have what you need.  The manager always makes his rounds during your meal to make sure everything was just right and he is very sincere about it too.  Not just another one of these guys that you can tell just gets paid to make the rounds.
I have a list of favorites at this place!  For starter the bread that they bring out is amazing and if you like the herbs that they put in the oil than you will be happy to know that they do sell them there.  I apologize that I do not know the cost but all you have to do is ask them.
We also LOVE the fried mozzarella and the fried zucchini for our appetizers.  They are not your store bought crappy ones.  They are delicious.
I think that the 3 favorite main dishes and all of our friends would agree would be the Pollo Rosa Maria which is chicken breast stuffed with ham and cheese and the sauce is just a little bit tangy. (This is my favorite)  The Chicken Marsala and the Sirloin Marsala.  I have also tried the Chicken Bryan which I am sure would be great if you like the taste of goat cheese.  I just couldn't take it and that was before I knew what it was. lol.
You can not go wrong with any of the side dishes.  When the zucchini is in season that is what I like to get.   They are cut in to straws and seasoned just right.   When they do not have that available I always go for the Cavatoppi.  It is wonderful.  Almost everyone that we go with orders the garlic mashed potatoes which are also to die for.
They also have a full wine menu and the desserts are great too!
You can not go wrong by having dinner here!  If you tried it before and didn't like it give it another shot!

Braza Express

We decided we really wanted a salad from the Italian Place the other night and so I drove across town only to find a sign on the door that read "Closed please try our other locations" how disappointing. Plan B was to try somewhere that we had never been before.  We had a coupon from our Provo calender for buy one get one 50% off at the Braza Express which is also on University Ave. in Provo.  I had done a little research and discovered that the food was similar to the food that you get at Tucanos I knew it was an express but I think I set my expectations a little to high and it sounded great!
When we walked in the door we received a very warm greeting from the lady behind the counter.  I had to ask her what she would suggest because we were newbies.  You start out with your choice of rice. White or some chicken rice (I would highly recommend the chicken rice but I cant remember the correct name of it.) you then pick black or pinto beans which they pour over your rice.  You pick a meat and they have several to choose from, top sirloin, tenderloin, bbq chicken, regular chicken, shrimp. (You can also choose to get 1 piece of each meat) a side, fries, fried bananas, cinnamon bananas, rice thingies (sorry, don't remember the name of these either but they are delicious!) a salad, fruit, vinaigrette, pasta or potato salad and then you get a roll.  The food was good but the meat had a lot of fat on it and the salads did not have a ton of flavor.  Will I go again?  If someone suggests it then maybe but I don't think that I will be suggesting it myself.

Norma Jeans Diner

Ok here is another place that we love to visit.  Norma Jeans Diner on University Ave. in Provo.
The food is delicious.  They have amazing fried pickles.  I have tried a lot of fried pickles and these are the best. Terrance loves to get their club sandwich which is very good.  I love the french dip.  The salads are amazing too.  If you like ranch dressing you will love theirs.  They make it home made every day.  The service is always great.  The waitresses are always on top of things.  You never need to ask for a refill on your drink.
They also have a drawing every month where you can be drawn out for a photo shoot and get your picture hung on the wall as their pin up for the month.  You can do the old Marilyn Monroe look or something a little more conservative.  It is up to you.
You can also "like" them on FaceBook and get coupons to use.  Try it and I am sure you will like it!
